On Wednesday, No. 8 once again became No. 24.During warmups, Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin honored the late Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant by wearing 24 on his jersey prior to the team’s contest against the Nashville Predators. The jersey will be signed and put up for auction benefitting the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. It was hard, he was a legend in the basketball world, in the whole world. It’s tough, still can’t believe it.”Bryant, 41, was killed in a helicopter crash Sunday outside Los Angeles that also took the life of his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. Seven other passengers died including John Altobelli, a baseball coach at Orange Coast College, his wife and daughter.
